Floor lighting has multiple applications in the modern home. It can be used for task lighting, reading lighting, and to create more relaxing ambient lighting, avoiding the glare of ceiling lights. There’s very little more enjoyable than curling up with a good book. But to make the best of it, you need a dedicated space and comfortable lighting.
When you’re reading, it’s important that you get enough light in the right place to avoid eye strain. So, choosing an adjustable lamp that allows you to direct the light beam can be really beneficial. Whenever we talk about light design, we always recommend working in layers. This not only makes the area more visually appealing, but can enhance it’s function too. So, start with ceiling lighting. The next layer down will be your floor lamps, and potentially wall lamps. From there, you might add in table lamps. Or even LED strips around your bookcases or skirting boards. Creating interest, flexibility, and ambience.
Lighting can be really useful when you’re trying to define a specific area of a room.
